2026 guide — by TLL concierges based in La Marsa, 5 minutes from Gammarth. Gammarth is the premium beach resort of Tunis’s northern suburbs: four five-star hotels lined up along the bay, a modern marina, beach clubs open from April to October, and the most upscale stretch of coast in Greater Tunis. Here, in order, is what our guests actually do.
Why visit Gammarth in 2026
Gammarth is a 4-km residential beachfront enclave on the cape that closes Tunis Bay to the north. The town is part of La Marsa municipality but has its own identity: less postcard-perfect than Sidi Bou Saïd, less urban than central La Marsa, but with Tunisia’s densest concentration of five-star hotels.
What Gammarth offers that you won’t find elsewhere:
- 4 five-star hotels along 3 km of coast (Four Seasons, The Residence, Mövenpick, Regency) — a national record
- A calm public beach doubled by hotel and beach-club private beaches
- An 18-hole golf course (Tunis Country Club) just 10 minutes away
- An international airport only 10 km away (Tunis-Carthage)
- Upscale nightlife concentrated on a 1.5-km corniche
Distances from Gammarth:
- Tunis-Carthage Airport: 10 km (15 min)
- La Marsa center: 5 km (10 min)
- Sidi Bou Saïd: 7 km (12 min)
- Carthage (archaeological sites): 10 km (15 min)
- Tunis center / Medina: 20 km (30-45 min depending on traffic)
“In 30 years, Gammarth has established itself as the Tunisian Riviera: a short stretch of coast, but with the highest density of five-star establishments in the Maghreb.”
— Tunisian National Tourist Office, Northern Suburbs Report 2025
Gammarth beaches: where to put down your towel
Gammarth offers three types of beach along a continuous 4-km strip, from south (toward La Marsa) to north (toward Raoued). Each has its own crowd.
Gammarth’s public beach
Golden sand, gentle slope, clear water. The public beach stretches 2 km from Marina Gammarth to the Sidi Dhrif neighborhood. It is free, open year-round, and lifeguarded from June 15 to September 15. This is where Tunisian families come on weekends.
TLL tip: come on weekdays before 11 am or after 5 pm and you’ll find the beach almost empty. The north exit (toward Raoued) is quieter than the south exit (toward La Marsa).
Private hotel beaches (day passes)
The five-star hotels open their beaches to non-residents with a day pass (sun lounger, umbrella, pool access, sometimes lunch included). Indicative 2026 prices:
| Hotel | 2026 day pass | Included |
|---|---|---|
| Four Seasons | 180-220 TND | Lounger + umbrella + pool + towel |
| The Residence | 150-180 TND | Lounger + umbrella + pool + partial spa access |
| Mövenpick | 110-150 TND | Lounger + umbrella + pool |
| Regency | 80-120 TND | Lounger + umbrella + pool |
Weekend and July-August rates are typically 20-30 % higher. Reservations recommended, especially at the Four Seasons (limited capacity).
Beach clubs (May to October)
Beach clubs are Tunisia’s answer to the Mediterranean paillote: sun loungers, lunch on the sand, afternoon music, occasionally a DJ in the evening.
- OKTO Beach Club: open daily 12-10 pm from April through October. Mediterranean cuisine, relaxed atmosphere, mixed Tunisian-expat crowd.
- Jet 7: an exclusive club on the corniche with a private beach and an upscale restaurant. Gammarth’s most posh address.
- RAF Plage: premium beach with sports activities (yoga, paddle, kayak, beach volleyball, snorkeling).
- Coya Beach: spotlessly maintained private beach, restaurant-bar, calm vibe during the day.
Beach-club day pass: 40-90 TND for a lounger + 1 drink; lunch extra (60-120 TND per person).
Marina Gammarth
Built at the end of the 2010s, Marina Gammarth is Tunisia’s newest marina. It has 400 berths to international standards and a large dry dock for 350 boats. It’s managed as an upscale port with a harbor master’s office, private residences, shops and quayside restaurants.
What to do at the marina:
- Waterfront dining: 8-10 restaurants along the quays, open lunch and dinner
- Boat day charter: starting from 600 TND for 4 people, skipper included, depart 10 am return 5 pm, swimming in Tunis Bay
- Sea excursion to Sidi Bou Saïd and Raouad rock
- Evening stroll between 7 pm and 10 pm in season — relaxed atmosphere, mix of tourists and locals
The marina is free to enter. On-site parking.
Nightlife in Gammarth: Greater Tunis’s premium scene
Together with La Marsa, Gammarth is the nightlife capital of the northern suburbs. Bars, clubs, lounges and a casino are concentrated along 1.5 km of corniche — a density unmatched elsewhere in Tunisia.
Clubs and discos
- Cyclone Golden Club: the oldest institution, international club atmosphere, open 11 pm-5 am on weekends. Cover 50-80 TND including one drink.
- Maxximum: mainstream club, hits + house, 25-40 crowd.
- Odeon Club: more upscale, themed nights, limited capacity (reservation recommended).
- Jet 7: club + beach by day, premium lounge by night.
Lounge bars and live music
- Bruhaus: craft beer bar with live music (rock, blues, jazz). Mixed expat and well-off Tunisian crowd.
- Sky Lounge Mövenpick: panoramic terrace, cocktails, view over Tunis Bay.
- Le Hangar: former hangar converted into a concert bar, alternative programming.
Casino
Casino Carthage is located in Gammarth (Avenue Taïeb Mhiri). Open 24/7, table games (roulette, blackjack, poker) and slot machines. Smart-casual dress code. ID required at the door.

Tasting menus 4-6 courses: 200-350 TND per person, wine included at some tables.
TLL concierge tip: in a private villa in Gammarth, many of our guests prefer a private chef at home rather than going out every night. Fish couscous, grilled sea bream, Tunisian pastries — prepared in front of you, from €100 for 4 people. See our private chef Tunisia service.
Day trips from Gammarth
Gammarth is perfectly placed for exploring northern Tunisia. Five day trips are particularly worth the detour.
1. Sidi Bou Saïd (12 min by taxi) — The blue-and-white village perched on its cliff, the country’s tourist icon. Pair it with coffee at Café Sidi Chabaane (overlooking the bay). See our Sidi Bou Saïd must-see guide.
2. Carthage (15 min) — Punic and Roman ruins, UNESCO World Heritage since 1979: Antonine Baths, Roman theater, Punic ports, National Museum. Plan a half-day.
3. Tunis Medina (35 min) — UNESCO since 1979, one of the best-preserved medinas in the Maghreb. Covered souks, Dar El Bey palace, Zitouna Mosque. Combine with a traditional lunch at Dar El Jeld (legendary table).
4. Bizerte and Cape Blanc (1 h) — The northernmost port city of Tunisia (and of the African continent). Old harbor, citadel, wild beaches at Cape Blanc.
5. Kelibia and Cap Bon (1 h 30) — Byzantine fortress, white-sand beach, Mornag vineyards. Excellent for fans of heritage and wine.
Concierge tip: our French- and English-speaking drivers do the Sidi Bou Saïd + Carthage + Medina day for €180-220 (up to 4 people). See TLL private driver.
Gammarth for families, couples or groups
With children
Gammarth is safe, calm and well-equipped for kids: gentle-slope beach, hotel pools, beach-club animation, Hannibal Park 20 min away, several public playgrounds. We recommend private villas with a pool (70 % of our family clientele) over hotels — more space, full kitchen, on-site caretaker.
As a couple
Gammarth is one of northern Tunisia’s most romantic destinations, especially from May through October. Spa at the Four Seasons or The Residence, dinner with your feet in the sand at OKTO or Coya Beach, sunset walks along the beach. Combine with a night in Sidi Bou Saïd for variety.
With friends in a group
Our group clientele in Gammarth keeps growing. 4-6-bedroom villas with pool + private chef + driver on call: the signature formula for 10-12 people. Beach clubs by day, marina restaurants by night, clubs after midnight. See our Gammarth villas.
